Examples of My Work

Catching the kids at Worli Fishing Village, Mumbai, India

From a childhood fascination with his grandfather's leather-cased cameras in Melbourne, Australia, to countless nights under the Texas Hill Country sky, Phil Ostroff has spent a lifetime chasing the perfect moment through a lens. A self-driven photographer since his teenage years — pedaling across Melbourne's coastlines and rainforests with a 35mm SLR slung over his shoulder — Phil has since taken his camera across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, finding compelling images everywhere he's pointed it. Now based in the Austin area, he channels that same restless curiosity into landscape and night sky photography, teaches astronomy and astrophotography at Eagle Eye Observatory, and is launching his own astrophotography school in Central Texas. A member of Astronomers Without Borders, the Planetary Society, and SETI, Phil brings a global perspective and a lifetime of hard-won craft to everything he shoots and teaches.
